This is my corner of Shinyverse, aptly named Detail.
At the moment what resides here is my portfolio of art; in time it will probably expand.
As for me, I'm Sidsel Kaald Olsen, longtime friend of Marieke's and, err, Duchess of Details. Yeah. I have a title and you don't! Ahem.
Like most people, I started drawing at an early age, unlike most of them, I continued. I used to trace and draw
ElfQuest comics for years, and eventually I started doing other stuff with slightly less frightening cheekbones.
I mostly draw fairytale-ish stuff. I grew out of the Elfwood phase (slapping pointy ears on everything) some years ago (thank God!) and I like to flatter myself that my I've grown more subtle. Though I did go to art school for three years, these days it's just a hobby. I sometimes wonder if that's all it should be, but for the most part I think Marieke is the one more suited for illustrating stuff for a living.
The stuff contained here is obviously my portfolio and diverse art over the years, intended both to showcase it and also to be a convenient place for me to gather all my artistic endeavours. I keep a lot of old stuff around here for the nostalgia, but for another reason too.
I sometimes meet people who really admire art and would like to create some themselves, but refuse to try, because they think that for whatever reason
they could never accomplish anything. Idiocy, of course. Like everything else drawing is about hard work far more than talent or innate skill.
So, here for the world (or my closest friends anyway) I shall display my oldest and most embarrassing artwork on the
Wall of Shame - as soon as I get home and dig up some of it.
